Particular Course Requirements:
The Year 11 course focuses on economic behaviour and provides an essential foundation for the Year 12 course. The order of the topics in both the Year 11 and Year 12 courses is not prescriptive and may be influenced by economic events, the interests and needs of the students or the availability of resources.

People have become suspicious of markets and economics, exacerbated by the Global Financial Crisis This has implications for what economics needs to be taught. Economic theory can create a bette understanding of the world, promoting better choices by individuals.
As a subject, Economics is distinctive because of the range of problems and issues that it investigates and the skills that it develops. It uses big picture thinking and helps adolescents connect with the world.
A student who has completed the Year 11 and Year 12 courses should have knowledge and skills enabling them to:
comprehend the background and implications of contemporary economic issues.
discuss appropriate policies to solve economic problems and issues.
understand how changes in the global economy affect us.
identify, using economic thinking, appropriate strategies to protect the natural environment.
