Course Description
Studies of Religion 2 covers the same course content as Studies of Religion 1; however with twice the timetabled lessons it also includes a third Religious Depth Study in the Preliminary and HSC course, which will be either Judaism or Buddhism, as well as two additional units each year.

Preliminary: 3 Tasks - Research, Presentation, Examination
HSC: 4 Tasks - Source Analysis, Presentation, Research, Trial Examination
External Assessment: HSC Examination – 3 hours
SECTION I - 20 multiple choice (10 marks) and 2 Short Answer Response – Post 1945 Australia, Land Rights, Religion and Non-Religion
SECTION II - 6 Short Answer Response – TWO religions out of Judaism/Buddhism, Islam, Christianity
SECTION III - 1 Essay – Judaism/Buddhism, Islam OR Christianity (you cannot do the same religion in both sections II and III)
SECTION IV – Essay – Religion and Peace
Studies of Religion emphasises the development of skills of analysis, independent research, collaboration and effective communication. These skills empower students to become critically reflective life-long learners.
Students who enjoy independent study, have refined writing skills and who are interested in learning about a range of spiritual beliefs are most suited to this course.
