Course Description:
English Studies is structured for students who aim to refine and practice their skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Through the study of a variety of texts, students have opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the English language. They experience how using English well can enhance their lives. English Studies is a course for students who wish to be awarded a Higher School Certificate, but who are seeking an alternative to the English Standard course, and may not necessarily be seeking an ATAR.
Year 11
There are 3 internal assessments: Multimodal Presentation, Writing Folder, Yearly Examination Students must study at least one substantial print text, and at least one substantial multimodal text.
Year 12
There are 3 internal assessments:
Multimodal Presentation, Writing Folder, Trial HSC Examination.
Students must study at least one substantial print text, and at least one substantial multimodal text.
External Assessment:
Students may elect to sit the English Studies HSC Examination and be eligible to achieve an ATAR.
