Year 11 Extension is required for Year 12 Extension 1 & 2 Year 12 Extension 2 is only an option for students enrolled in Extension 1 English
English Extension is designed for students undertaking Advanced English who choose to study at a more intensive level. These students enjoy engaging with complex concepts and contexts, and thrive on the critical reading of literary texts. They seek opportunities to work in increasingly independent ways. In Year 12 English Extension 2, students develop a sustained, original composition and reflect on their experiences of this process.

YEAR 12 EXTENSION 1
One Compulsory Module:
Texts, Culture and Value
This course requires students to examine a key text from the past and its manifestations in one or more popular cultures. Students also explore, analyse and critically evaluate different examples of such appropriations in a range of contexts and media.
One Common Module: Literary Worlds
ONE Elective: Either Literary Homelands, or Worlds of Upheaval, or Reimagined Worlds, or Literary Mindscapes, or Intersecting Worlds
Students study prescribed and related texts for this course.
Particular Course Requirements:
Year 11 students complete 3 formal assessment tasks:
Imaginative Response, Multimodal Presentation, Yearly Examination.
Year 12 Extension 1 students complete 3 formal assessments: Imaginative Response, Related Text Response, Trial HSC Examination.
Year 12 Extension 2 students complete 3 formal assessments: Viva Voce, Literature Review, Creative Process Critique
External Assessment:
Extension 1: 2 hour 5 minute HSC Examination Extension 2: Major Work and Reflection Statement
