Ed Larson graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College (now UNI) in 1963 with a degree in Industrial Technology. He continued his education at Colorado State University, where he received his Master's in Industrial Technology in 1965. Ed started his note-worthy career at Independence High School teaching Industrial Arts. His love of construction continued to grow as he worked from residential building and teaching, to commercial and industrial building construction.

Along with his wife Janet, Ed built Larson Construction Co., Inc (LCCI) located in Independence, IA. LCCI became incorporated in 1973 and currently employs between 115-120 full time employees. Quality products, along with personal commitment and dedication to providing the highest standards have led to some very special projects for Ed. The Art Building in Iowa City has received numerous awards and international recognition. In 2011, Larson Construction spearheaded the week-long build for a new home for the Gibbs family in West Union for the ABC television show Extreme Home Makeover.

Ed is also the owner of three other businesses within Independence - Three Elms Golf Course, Iowa Engineer Processes I (IEP1) and Iowa Engineer Processes II (IEP2). In 2001, IEP1 received the Iowa Exporter of the Year Award.

Ed and Janet have worked together building companies that commit to excellence, respects individuals and believes in honesty and integrity. With these core values, Larson Construction has grown from a husband/wife operation to a family oriented company, involving their three children along with their spouses.
