Lorene Lenth felt that being a good reader helped her in dramatics, speech, and debates. When she was a sophomore in high school, Lorene was an Iowa State Champion debater. She went on to become a state champion extemporaneous speaker. Those accomplishments acted to spur her on and from there the list of her accomplishments goes on. She was an English teacher and speech coach at Central Community High School for many years.
