My name is Darla Pfister, this will technically be my 11th year teaching! I am a graduate of UT Arlington, where I received my Bachelor’s degree and certification in Elementary education. This spring I will be in my last semester of classes for my Master of Education in Reading degree! I taught First grade in Frisco ISD for 6 years and then I taught pre-k for 4 years at a private school here in Celina. I think Kindergarten is truly where it's at for me. I know where students are coming from as pre-kindergarteners and where they will need to be to be successful First graders. I have always had a heart for teaching and I am a 3rd generation teacher in my family. Both of my parents were educators and taught me to value educators and to be a life-long learner.
My family and I have lived in Celina 7 years. My husband has a law firm in Frisco. I have four children. Our oldest son is a junior at Baylor University. He is majoring in business finance. We have another son who is a senior this year at Celina High School. Go Bobcats! He is already an inventor and craftsman with plans to becoming an astronautical engineer. Our other two kids are twins (boy/girl) in 3rd grade at O’Dell Elementary. They are at such a fun age where they are reading to learn. My 5th child is my dog, a Goldendoodle, named Rocky. My class will hear lots of funny stories about him! I love to read and listen to podcasts about nutrition and education in my free time. Other hobbies include shopping, crafting, and spending time with my family.
I view the students in my classroom as family. When students move on to the next grade level, they remain in my heart forever. I strive to build relationships with each student. Relationships are the foundation for building a learning environment where students feel valued and safe. I also believe in building students' independence. I want to challenge students to think critically and to be problem solvers. However, at the same time I am here to guide them and help them become the best that they can be!
Parent communication is another priority of mine. I believe that parents play a huge part in helping their child succeed in the classroom. Children need to be reminded at home what their “job” is at school- to learn! Communication is a two-way street with teachers and parents, please do not hesitate to reach out to me either through Remind101 or email. I will keep you informed with all that is going on both in our class and with your child to the best of my ability!
I look forward to a great year at Celina Primary School! The best kids are here in Celina and I am so fortunate to get to teach them.
Love,
Mrs. Pfister
New Students:
Please review the Supply Labeling Directions Page prior to bringing supplies. You will need to help us by labeling many of your supplies before you come.
Please print and fill out the About My Child page. If you do not have the ability to print this form out in advance, another option is a google form to fill out online here is that link. Google Form About My Child.
Please complete this How I Go Home Google Form so that I can know how your child will be getting home their first day of school and thereafter.
This year our class will be using the Remind App to help us stay in constant communication. Please follow the instructions to join our class Remind group.
Our students attend a different specials class each day for 45 minutes. In addition to daily specials, our class goes to P.E. every day for 30 minutes. Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. or bring them to change into. Shorts need to be worn underneath dresses and skirts.
Lunch money may be added to your child's lunch account online on the My School Bucks site. Lunch and breakfast prices are as follows:
Breakfast: $2.25

We will eat snack in the classroom EVERYDAY!
Please provide a healthy snack for your child to eat in class during snack time and a flip-top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw-top bottles please.
Please be sure to check Blue Daily Folders regularly. This will be where behavior notes, daily notes, sight words, and other information will be sent home. This is also where you will send notes to school.
