Students will know and understand:
- Bar graphing.
- Line plots.
- Scale.
- Survey.
- Vertical and horizontal.
- Axis.
- Data.
- How bar graphs and line plots help organize data.
Skills:
Skills:
Students Will:
- Read and understand information on a bar graph or line plot.
- Create a line plot and bar graph using collected data.
- Solve problems using bar graphs.
Upon completion of Unit 13:
- 3.MD.B.3. Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs.
- 3.MD.B.4. Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units— whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
- MP.1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- MP.3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- MP.5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
- MP.6. Attend to precision.
