'Beautiful' dinosaur tail found preserved in amber
The tail of a feathered dinosaur has been found perfectly preserved in amber from Myanmar.
Amber is the fossilized resin from ancient forests. Amber is not produced from tree sap, but rather from plant resin. This aromatic resin can drip from and ooze down trees, as well as fill internal fissures, trapping debris such as seeds, leaves, feathers and insects.
New Zealand Volcano Eruption - 12/9/19
Dec. 10, 2019 at 12:14 a.m. EST
At least five people are dead, eight are reported missing and authorities are fearing the worst after a volcano erupted at a popular tourist site in New Zealand.
Several dozen visitors, including some from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, were on or near White Island when it erupted at 2:11 p.m. local time, releasing thick clouds of ash about 12,000 feet into the air. More than 30 people were hospitalized after being rescued, some with serious burn injuries.
Questions to Ponder
Even if they know the risks, should tourists be allowed to visit active volcanos? Should anybody be allowed?
Would you want to visit an active volcano? Why or why not?
What information would you want to know before visiting a volcano?
