What to know for March
1
Seat Savvy
Looking for a simple little tool to help you make seating charts? An English teacher put together this simple little tool to help with that very need. There is no login or accounts, but your browser history will allow Seat Savvy to remember what you've done, and you can generate a link to each seating chart you make. What's really cool about it is that as you add students, you can set up rules, and then randomize the student placement. For example, you could set one student's rule to keep them at the front of the class. You could also apply a rule to two students so that they never sit next to each other. Setting up these rules and then hitting the randomizer button is a great way to make groups for a particular project or activity.

Securly Classroom
We are moving forward with a classroom device management tool by Securly, the same company we use for digital passes. This tool allows teachers to monitor student screens, push websites, lock student screens, share their screen with students, and much more. It's being purchased at the middle school and high school. The goal is to have access starting in April, but if prorated access can't be figured out, definitely by July 1st.

Canva Code Connects to Sheets to Track Data
If you haven't played around with Canva Code, do yourself a favor and tinker around with it. Canva Code uses AI to take your prompt, and write actual code from it to build functioning tools, apps, and games. Now, that functionality has been taken even further by connecting those tools to Canva Sheets. Previously, there was no way to track or hold onto information when a tool is used or a game is played. Now, you can instruct Canva Code to retain that information by attaching it to a sheet. This means that if you create a learning game, you can track your students' performances. It means that you can set up a leaderboard so that when one player plays, they can see the high score from another player. There are many reasons this update is very cool. Start playing around with it and see what kind of awesomeness you can generate!

Professional Development
I have relisted four in-service self-paced trainings for the rest of this school year: Intro to Magic School, Magic Student, Clipchamp, and Next Level: Exploring the Level Up Website. I have also reserved three more days for full day trainings: April 8th, April 23rd, and May 26th. I have not yet determined which training will take place on which day, so if you have a topic you'd like to get training on, please reach out!

Teacher Feature: Canva links to individual slides
I'm trying out something new! I'm going to try to highlight a specific feature of a resource, how it works, and three ways teachers might use it. My hope is that this format will help motivate teachers to adopt certain tools and then use those tools more efficiently. First up is the ability to get a shareable link to individual slides of a Canva presentation. Check out the video below to see how it works and why that might matter to you!
