Casual problem-solving at its finest
If you've ever facilitated a Breakout EDU game in your classroom, you know it can be a novel and engaging experience for your students, highlighting an important set of soft skills that aren't always represented in traditional instruction. It's also not always easy to make space for a Breakout game in an over-packed day. The Lock-of-the-Day series by Breakout EDU is a single puzzle each day. Each puzzle is meant to be accessible to a wide age range, and focus on problem-solving. I put together a Lock-of-the-Day website to house Breakout's LOTD locks, adding a new one each weekday. You can find it here or click the button below.
Students can visit that website each day, whenever makes sense, to take a shot at solving that day's clue. I do also download the solutions to each puzzle so you can reach out if you're struggling to solve one and you just HAVE to know what it is, but I recommend making it a shared experience with lots of people and brain power before throwing in the towel. Below is a four minute video that walks you through how the website works and how students will use it. Please reach out to Mike Neumire if you have any questions!
