Instructions are a constant part of students' classroom experience. They need to know what to do and how to do it. Teachers accomplish this in a number of ways- verbally, written instructions, even video tutorials. Have you considered turning those instructions into code?Â
Code is basically just a set of instructions that a computer follows, and with the availability of block-based coding, it is easy to visually represent how to complete assignments or classroom routines in a way that challenges students to think computationally. This might be something that you do as an enrichment opportunity or something you even encourage students to do to show that they understand the instructions. You can take screenshots of the resulting code and print them for students or post them somewhere. Check out this video to see this process in action and reach out to Mike Neumire if you're intrigued!
