The ultimate goal of the Universal Design for Learning framework is learner agency, so it only makes sense to have some choice in how you dip your toe into UDL. Below are three interactive ways to start playing with the ideas contained in this deeply researched framework that is based in neuroscience.
The first option is a Connections-style puzzle. You are given 16 words and you need to sort them into four groups of four, based on some hidden connection / category. Use the UDL framework as a guide to help you find the hidden categories!
The second option is "UDL A to Z" which is like a version of Scattergories. The goal is to explore the UDL framework and jot down a word that starts with each letter of the alphabet, relating to Universal Design for Learning. You can find printed sheets to capture your words on the table.
The third option is to chat with a UDL-trained chatbot on Notebook LM. With this notebook, you can ask questions, look at flashcards, watch a quick video, listen to a podcast, and more. All trained on the latest UDL information!
Of course, it will be helpful to be able to look at the UDL guidelines while you complete any of these activities. You can find them here. There is a lot of information here, but think of it more like a scavenger hunt than studying for a test!
