FIELD STUDY – LEARNING EPISODE 15 UTILIZING WEB-CONFERENCING APPS FOR SYNCHRONOUS E-LEARNING
REFLECT
How ready are you in teaching an online synchronous class?
Yes, I feel ready because I already know how to manage and conduct an online class effectively. I’m familiar with using tools like web-conferencing apps to engage students.
Using a web-conferencing app, how else would you better establish:
Teaching Presence: I will use the app effectively to explain lessons and answer students' questions. Sharing slides and visuals will help clarify the content and support learning.
Social Presence: I would encourage students to turn on their cameras and use the chat box or microphone for discussions. This would strengthen the sense of connection and community, making the online class feel more engaging.
Cognitive Presence: I would engage students in activities that encourage them to apply their knowledge, particularly activities that develop Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), to deepen their understanding.
What do you still need to learn in order to conduct an online synchronous class using a web conferencing app effectively?
I still need to learn how to make my class fully engaged during discussions by using the interactive features of the web-conferencing app to keep students involved and active.
