FIELD STUDY 1 – LEARNING EPISODE 10
THE INSTRUCTIONAL CYCLE
REFLECT
ACTIVITY 10.1
Reflect on this question.
How do you select the appropriate strategy for our lessons?
Selecting the right strategy for a lesson is key to a teacher's success. To choose the most effective approach, it's important to first understand the students. This means looking at their backgrounds, identifying their interests, and knowing their strengths and weaknesses. By getting to know each student's learning style, the teacher can adapt strategies that meet their needs, making the lesson more engaging and effective. A well-chosen strategy connects with the students, motivates them, and helps them achieve the learning goals.
ACTIVITY 10.2
Reflect on the use of OBTL.
Reflecting on the use of OBTL, I believe it is an effective way to structure lessons because it makes the goals of education clear to both teachers and students. By focusing on specific outcomes, it guides teachers in selecting the most appropriate teaching methods and assessments to help students achieve those goals. This approach also gives students a clearer understanding of what they need to learn and accomplish, motivating them to take ownership of their learning. However, it also requires flexibility, as students' needs and learning styles can vary, and teachers must be adaptable in helping all students meet the desired outcomes.
ACTIVITY 10.3
Reflect on the importance of using various reacting techniques.
Using various reacting techniques is important because it helps maintain student engagement and encourages participation. Positive reactions, like praise or constructive feedback, motivate students to keep asking questions and expressing ideas. Reacting with probing questions or follow-ups also helps deepen understanding and keeps the discussion going. If teachers rely on just one method, students may lose interest or feel discouraged. By using different reacting techniques, teachers can create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that fosters curiosity and critical thinking.
SHOW Your Learning Artifacts
Show proofs of learning that you were able to gain in this episode by interviewing at least two teachers on their thoughts on OBTL.
Based on my interview, both teachers agreed that OBTL is an effective approach that enhances student learning by providing clarity, focus, and measurable goals. By aligning teaching strategies, activities, and assessments with specific learning outcomes, students become more motivated and are able to track their progress. The consistent application of OBTL has a positive impact on both teaching and learning, as it keeps everyone focused on achieving clear, measurable objectives.
These insights further reinforced my belief that OBTL is a valuable approach in ensuring that lessons are structured effectively to meet learning goals.
