FIELD STUDY 1 – LEARNING EPISODE 14 THE TEACHER AS A PERSON AND AS A PROFESSIONAL
REFLECT
ACTIVITY 14.1
Good teachers are role models, whether in school, at home or in the community. From the teachers that you had from elementary to college, did the personal qualities that they possess, help you learn better as a student? Identify one personal characteristic of your model teacher that has made a great impact in your life as a learner. Reflect and describe how this quality influenced you.
One personal characteristic of a model teacher that made a significant impact on me as a learner was patience. My high school teacher demonstrated incredible patience in addressing each student's learning pace, which made me feel supported and confident in my abilities. This quality inspired me to embrace learning, knowing that it’s okay to take my time to understand concepts fully. As a future teacher, I aim to carry this lesson forward by being patient with my students, encouraging them to take their time, ask questions, and grow at their own pace.
ACTIVITY 14.2
As a future teacher, the results imply that I should
As a future teacher, I must understand that the way I perceive myself may differ from how others see me. What truly matters is whether I am consistently exercising the competencies required of a professional teacher. It is important to separate my personal life from my professional life, ensuring that my actions align with the standards of the teaching profession.
If all the teachers teaching today possess the professional characteristics and competencies as the teacher/teachers observed then learners will be motivated to study harder and will model their behavior after their teachers. They will be inspired to contribute positively to society, shaping themselves into individuals who can bring about the societal changes expected by national heroes like Jose Rizal, who saw the youth as "The Hope of this Society."

MY TEACHER MY HERO
Sir Salvador C. Clores, my resource teacher at Bolo Norte National High School, is more than just a teacher to me. He is a role model who embodies both personal qualities and professional characteristics that inspire me every day.
One of the things I admire most about Sir Clores is his dignity. He always presents himself in a professional manner, treating everyone with respect and maintaining composure, whether he's teaching or interacting with students and colleagues. This respect is mutual, as he earns the admiration of everyone around him, including myself.
He is also knowledgeable. Sir Clores has a deep understanding of the subjects he teaches. Every lesson he imparts is filled with insights that make the topic come alive. His expertise is evident, and it motivates me to learn and understand more deeply.
But perhaps most inspiring is his determination. Teaching isn't always easy, yet Sir Clores never gives up. Even when faced with challenges, he remains committed to his students’ success. His perseverance teaches me that no matter what difficulties I may face in my future career, I can overcome them with hard work and dedication.
As I look ahead to becoming a teacher myself, I hope to carry these qualities with me. I want to be as knowledgeable, dignified, and determined as Sir Clores, and to make a positive impact on my students’ lives, just as he has on mine.
Through his example, Sir Clores shows me that teaching is more than just a profession; it's about being a guide, a mentor, and a source of inspiration. For that, he will always be my hero.
