Using a neutral tool like Chat GPT, the average price of a 70g bar of bean-to-bar chocolate made from beans selected for their flavor is €8. This equates to €24 for a 210g box or €115/kg. Current prices range from €80 to €150/kg for some highly reputable chocolatiers.
By controlling costs and using locally sourced cocoa, I can offer dark chocolate at €12 per box (or €55/kg, which is 50% lower than the average). This is still more expensive than industrial chocolate, but it's impossible to compete with a product made up of almost 50% (relatively) cheap sugar. Industrial chocolate sells for between €20 and €40/kg.
Here is the composition of industrial Belgian chocolate, according to Ghent University.
