On behalf of the Office of Student Affairs, we would like to welcome you to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. We look forward to seeing you when orientation begins on Wednesday, July 11 for the University Program and MSTP. The first week concludes with the White Coat Ceremony, a unique ceremony which your family and friends are cordially invited to attend on Sunday, July 15th at 11:00 am. Please make sure your family is aware of this invitation (below).
On Sunday, July 15, you will need to arrive in the Smith Lobby of Severance Hall by 10:00 am. Continental breakfast will be served and students will be lined up in the order in which they will process into the Grand Hall for the ceremony. This event marks your entrance into a profession with high professional standards. During the ceremony, you will receive your White Coat which you will proudly wear during patient interactions for all four years of medical school. You will also be greeted by the Dean of the School of Medicine and a number of Vice Deans, Associate Deans, Society Deans and alumni who will all play an important role in your lives over the next few years and beyond.
The ceremony will last a little over an hour and following a class photo on the stairs of Severance Hall, a celebratory reception for your family and friends will take place in Smith Lobby and the Grand Foyer. You will not have to reserve or purchase any tickets, as there will be plenty of seating for the ceremony and food at the reception.
We look forward to meeting you on Wednesday, July 11th when you begin your career in medicine!
