Dear Member of the Class of 2023 at CWRU SOM,
We would like to welcome you to your new adventure! You may be aware that members of the community at large have donated their bodies to the CWRU School of Medicine so that, as a medical student, you can learn from them. We are members of the School of Medicine faculty. Prof. Wish‐Baratz directs the medical school anatomy course and Prof. Deming is a member of the department of Bioethics.
Our experience has shown that many of your fellow incoming students are anxious about their upcoming experiences in the anatomy labs. We would appreciate it if each of you would let us know how you are feeling about the notion of cadaveric dissection. What are your thoughts and feelings about the upcoming experience you will undergo in the gross anatomy lab? Do you have any concerns you would like us to address? We have created a survey to enable you to communicate your thoughts and feelings to us.
All information received will remain anonymous. On your first day of medical school classes, the anatomy teaching faculty will officially welcome you and Prof. Deming will discuss the survey results. Over time we hope to identify student concerns and respond to them.
The survey can be accessed through the following link:

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at: nicole.deming@case.edu or sxw195@case.edu.
We wish you a safe journey to your new location and look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Professors Nicole Deming and Susanne Wish‐Baratz
