Tips for Designing a Good Presentation
Tip #1 – Layout
Have a plan of what you’re going to present.
Decide on beginning, middle, and end of presentation.
The teacher has already done this on your projects.
Tip #2 – Font
Use consistent font, background, design, and color scheme.
Size should be 24 pt or larger.
Color should be contrasting the background.
This makes the presentation more appealing to the audience.
Tip #3 – Information
Use Keywords and Phrases.
Only use facts. Don't put in everything your going to say.
Use Bullets Whenever Possible.
The Bullets Separate and Organize the info.
Audience can follow main ideas by reading the bullet points.
Tip #4 – Amount of Information on Slide
6 x 6 Rule.
Six words across, six words down 36 Total.
Tip #5 – Contrast
Don't use pictures for backgrounds unless it is a consistent color.
Light Background, dark text.
Dark Background, light text.
Tip #6 – Test Slide Show Before Presenting
Make sure slides transition properly.
Don't use automatic timing unless your presentation doesn't require a speaker.
Tip #7 – Spell Check
Google automatically underlines in red misspelled words.
Tip #8 – Choose Animation's and Transitions Carefully
Too much Animation can be distracting.
Tip #9 – Multimedia Elements
Only add elements that add to the presentation.
Avoid excessive sound effects.
Choose carefully.
Tip #10 – Keep it Simple
Keep words to a minimum.
Choose pictures that are high quality and make them as large as possible.
