Google Docs Tri-Fold Brochure Famous Person

OBJECTIVE: Create a tri-fold brochure using Google docs. The theme will be a famous person.

The tri-fold brochure will have 6 different panels 3 on each sheet and we will design it using a barrel fold.

Directions

Click Create then Document

Image

Change Margins

Click File Page Set Up

Select Landscape orientation Change Margins to 0.2" for Top, Bottom, Left and Right

One Page View

Hold Ctrl and roll your mouse roller to zoom out on your page until the whole page is visible at once,

Add Table for sections

Click Table Menu

Click Insert Table 3 X 1

Change Table Properties

Now Change the table properties so it fits in the entire page

Highlight all cells of the table

Right click inside the table and select Table Properties

Change Table Border to 6 pt

Change Minimum Row Height to 7.75

Change Cell padding to 0.5

Copy Table into next page

Highlight all cells of the table

Copy it by using Ctrl+C or Right click Copy

Now paste it in the next page down

Brochure Panels

When you create a brochure the pages are not the way you might think. The six panels are shown in the graphic to the right. I will show you what is required for each panel.

Inside left panel

We will start with the inside left panel. This panel will be shown when the brochure is fully opened.

Inside center panel

This panel will be shown when the brochure is fully opened.

Inside right panel

This panel will be shown when the brochure is fully opened.

Inside Flap

This panel is shown when you open the front of the brochure

Back

This panel is shown when you flip over the brochure

Cover

The cover has three parts

Name of famous person
Picture
Your name

This panel will be titled the "Early Years"

Write a short paragraph about where and when he was born. Include a picture that pertains to the early life.

And include some information like listed below:

Who were his/her parents, brothers and sisters.
What school he attended.
Hobbies or likes.

If no information is present for these items you can replace with other early life info.

This panel will be titled the "Accomplishment"

List one of the major accomplishments in the life of the famous person.

Include a picture of the accomplishment.

Accomplishments can include the following:

Awards
- Inventions
- Life changing events

This panel will be titled the "Accomplishment"

List one of the major accomplishments in the life of the famous person.

Include a picture or two of the accomplishment.

Accomplishments can include the following:

Awards
- Inventions
- Life changing events

This panel will be titled the "Accomplishment" You can also label these accomplishments with the accomplishment like I have shown

List one of the major accomplishments in the life of the famous person.

Include a picture or two of the accomplishment.

- Life changing events

Remember you can always add more pictures if space permits

You will put a quote from your famous person on the back panel.

Also put a picture or two.

At the bottom place the name of your famous person along with his birth and death dates.

Insert a 1 x 1 table then type the Name of famous person

Insert a picture next space it out evenly

Insert a 1 x 1 table then type your name

you can customize the table border

Printing Pages

Click File then print

If you have a printer which will print on both sides of the paper

Click File Print

Click Print Using System Dialog

Click on Preferences

Change to following:

Orientation: Landscape

print on both sides: Flip on Short Edge

This will allow you to print on both sides of the paper

Folding Pages

To fold the pages of your brochure along the table borders as shown below

Finished

Turn book in for final grade
