To ensure that class (students and parents) do not have an opportunity to communicate in an unmonitored fashion with each other.
Why do teachers have to log in via Clever?
We have set up a data share in Clever so that classes are automatically rostered and users don’t have to manually enter phone numbers or email addresses.
Do I use my old or new email format to log into Remind?
Use the new first.last email format to sign in with Remind. If you have already signed in using the old format, you can go to Notification Preferences, add a device (new email), accept, and merge the account.
Why do I not see my class in Remind?
You may be using your old email address. You can update your account by going to Notification Preferences, add a device (new email), accept, and merge the account.
Why can’t I text or email my students that are younger than 13?
Due to rules within Children’s Online Protection (COPPA) we cannot use Remind in this fashion.
Why can’t some staff see Remind in Clever?
Remind is a classroom communication tool designed for rostered classes. Some staff may not have rostered students in Synergy. We have options to problem solve this. Submit a ticket with detailed info so Natalie can work it out.
I’m a parent of students in the district and can see their class info, but not the class I teach?
You should be able to see both! Follow the directions for merging an account on CSD Basics. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, put in a ticket for Natalie.
How can I translate my messages to families?
You can translate messages before sending them. Participants will receive the translated message whether they're receiving notifications by text, the app, web, or email. After you compose a message, you can click the globe beneath the message and choose a language.
Can I share my class with another teacher?
Yes, you can share your class with another teacher. Know that your messages will stay private between you and your class. Your partner teacher will not see what you communicate.
Do parents need to install the Remind app?
No, they can use the app if they want, but parents will get a text or email regardless, as long as they have contact information in Synergy. Parents are encouraged to keep that info up to date with their school’s Attendance Secretary.
How do I change my contact phone number or other info?
First, it's important that you start with your attendance secretary so they can update Synergy.

Yes - if your parent email in Synergy is listed as your district email, you will be able to act as both roles in the same account.
To prevent confusion, however, you may wish to keep these roles separate and use a personal email as a parent.
Please note that Remind uses your telephone number as its primary identifier. If you and another member of your household share a phone number (listed in Synergy), Remind will merge your accounts.
If you wish to communicate with students and/or families via text message, you should use Remind in order to streamline the number of apps we use and to maintain compliance with district and state policies. You are not required to communicate with students and/or families via text if you do not wish to.
No. Provided that you created your old Remind account with your district email address, the two accounts will merge.
If you used a different email address for Remind, you should now log in with your district email to activate your new account.

This is not recommended. Remind will auto-roster your classes based on Synergy information and will always be up-to-date — this saves you managing your classes manually. You can also send one message to all your students at once by selecting multiple classes in the message window.
Can I share a Remind class with another educator?
You can promote another teacher to owner from your class settings. All owners have the same administrative abilities for the class.
What if students or parents don't have smartphones?
Students and parents can get Remind messages on any phone that can receive text messages, including prepaid phones, flip phones, and government-provided phones.
What if students or parents don't have a phone at all?
Remind accounts can be created on any computer with internet access. Participants will see their messages whenever they log in to Remind.com, or they can choose to receive messages via email.
What email is used for my Remind account?
Remind accounts are generated from the information in Synergy (our student information system). The email address that you have listed there is the one that will be used for your Remind account.
How will I receive communication through Remind?
Students and families can choose between email, text messages, and app notifications to receive messages sent by teachers and schools.
Once logged into Remind from a computer or smart phone, students and families can pick the way they want to receive the communications in their settings.
Teachers and schools will typically use Remind for important announcements (upcoming testing, end-of-semester deadlines, school events) and for keeping in touch regarding homework and grades. It may also be used on field trips, or by coaches to organize their teams.
Canby School District pays for premium Remind accounts for all our users. However, if you elect to receive messages via text, there may be an associated cost from your service provider. If you do not wish to incur these costs, you can set your preferences to receive email notifications only.
Yes. Parents can add their landline to Remind, by registering it as a new number and then selecting the option “verify code via phone call” to fully register that phone number.
