To send a message, click the blue pencil composer and select the class you would like to send your message to.
Class announcements are sent to all members of your class. When a participant replies to a class announcement, only the class owner who sent the message will receive the response.
Group conversations allow you to select up to 9 other participants (totaling 10 in the conversation) to start a group conversation. When you send a message in your group conversation, all participants will see one another as well as the responses. To find group conversations, scroll past your classes in the composer.
An individual message is a chat between you and one other participant. Only you and the participant can see this type of message.
An individual message is a conversation between you and one other participant. You and the participant are the only people who can see the message. To send an individual message on web:
Click on New message located on the left side of the dashboard.
Select Message.
Type the name of the person you want to reach in the search box at the top, or scroll down until you get to the People section and select the box next to their name.
Click Continue.
Type your message.
Click Send.
You can select up to 9 other participants to start a group conversation. When you send a group message, all participants will see one another as well as each other's responses. This type of message is popular for group or class assignments. To send a group message on web:
Click on New message located on the left side of the dashboard.
Select Message.
Scroll down and click on Create New located to the right of Recent Group Conversations.
Click on each participant.
Click Continue.
Type your message.
Click Send.
To message a group you've already created, you can find the group under Recent Group Conversations/Recent Groups in the message composer or under All Classes. You can also use the search bar in the composer, or in All Classes to find past group conversations.
When you attempt to send a group message to more than 10 people, the message will be sent as an individual message; a group message will not be created. As a result, only the teacher who sent the message will receive each person's response - not the entire group.
Also, as the creator of the group chat, you cannot remove yourself from the conversation. However, the members of your group can leave a group conversation at any time via text, app or web.
