Who can use this?
Admin, Teachers, Group Owners/Managers, Room Parents & anybody with individual permission to post can create Posts
Best for conversational messages to your class where you’d like to start an individual (bcc) or group conversation with everyone or messages aimed at specific people.
Who can use this?
All signed-in users can use Direct Messages; who they can send to is determined by role and school settings
Direct Messages: up to 150 recipients
Group Conversations: up to 50 recipients
When a new student/parent/staff is added to a class or group, they are not added to existing message threads of the class or group. To include a new recipient, create a new message to the class or group.
If the membership was updated you'll see a note in existing message threads to let you know to start a new message.
If you’re sharing information you want to be accessible to future members, the better option is to use a post. The post feed will be visible to new members retroactively.
When your class or group has a new member, you'll see a note that the message thread is out-of-date. That will help you distinguish between the most current and past threads.
You can name the group conversations to help you identify your current threads.
Click on the info icon to see the full list of participants in the thread.

School and District Admin and those with individual user permission for Smart Alerts
Keep your messages short. Some students and families will be receiving these messages as texts. Shorter messages are easier to access and won't cost as much.
Use weekly rather than daily communications. Regular, infrequent communications keep students and families from feeling overwhelmed with information, particularly at the secondary level when multiple teachers are messaging families.
Use direct or group conversations for personalized communications and interventions. These messages can be more specific to the individual student(s) and families.
Utilize the scheduling feature to plan messages in advance. This will allow you to schedule messages for more impactful times without requiring you to send them manually.
As you are planning your messages, ask yourself the following questions:
Who is the message for?
What is the purpose of the message?
When will my message have the greatest impact?
Is my message easy to understand?
Am I expecting responses to my message?
How do I know if I am allowed to contact certain members of a student’s family?
Translations will happen automatically based on the preferred language set in the parent/guardian account in Synergy.
