My name is Jared Benjamin Puddicombe, but I usually go by Jared Puddicombe or Mr. Puddicombe in the classroom. I was born in Brampton, Canada, but currently reside in London, Canada. While I am taking classes I live in Rexburg, Idaho. I was born in 1999 so technically I am a 20th Century baby.
I am studying for a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education major and a history education minor. I am at the end of my second year of study and will return in the fall. I am currently single and focusing on my studies. I have three siblings, two are older than me and married, one is younger and studying at BYU. I would call myself a family man and am very family-orientated and want to help both parents and students to learn the importance of building a family.
My personal philosophy is that each child should be treated like someone who understands what they may want in life but has to wait before they can develop needed skills that can help them achieve their dreams and desires. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure that what is being taught in the classroom is both respectable and also accurate to what students will need in the future to keep them safe, protected, open, and able to adapt to their circumstances.
The summary of this page consists of the following: six deliverable lesson plans on different topics for students of Early Adolescents (10-14 years old). The first Lesson is on Sea Turtles, a topic that will introduce students to the world and the effects we as humans have on the environment around us. In the lesson, we will learn what are sea turtles, how we can help them, and what dangers they face in today's climate. The second lesson is about Puberty, a sensitive topic that will be conducted with the at most respect for the parents or legal guardians. In the lesson, students would take a deeper look into the physical, emotional, and mental change that develops as their bodies go through this stage of their life.
Thirdly, we have a lesson on Health and well-being, in which we will look into ways that can help us grow healthier and develop an ability to keep ourselves out of harm's way by playing and creating the questions to a game of Jeopardy. Fourth, we have a lesson on Social Cognition, which will focus on how to develop social skills and understand how to "read the room" better which can develop into skills for the working world. In the social cognition section, a mind map is available to help students and parents understand why and how Social Cognition is important and its connections to other subjects. We then have a lesson on Pre-Modern Cultures, which is focused on ancient, medieval, and renascence cultures and the effects they have/had on us in the modern world today. Students will learn about a respective culture of their choosing and will make a presentation about it. Finally, we have a lesson about Moral Dilemmas, which will help students understand and develop their own understanding of what is right and wrong.
The preface to the lesson plans is a Planning Guide, in which how these lessons are planned and based around for the specific age group.
