Hi! I am a Theatre Education Major with an English Education minor. I graduated high school in 2022 and I have loved my college experience so far. I am on track to graduate college in 2026 and then I plan on heading off to teach at a school that is hopefully in Idaho.
I believe that the role of the teacher is to educate and nurture the students in the classroom. Teachers should allow students to grow in their educational journeys and in their personal lives. “Sometimes the spirit of revelation will operate immediately and intensely, other times subtly and gradually, and often so delicately you may not even consciously recognize it. But regardless of the pattern whereby this blessing is received, the light it provides will illuminate and enlarge your soul, enlighten your understanding, and direct and protect you and your family.” -Elder David A. Bednar

Summary:
Through making meaningful connections with my students, I know that I can be an amazing theatre teacher. I can take the things that I have learned in this course and use it for the benefit of my future students. I am confident in my ability to know and understand how to evaluate a student's emotional and physical situation. I have loved working with my group and learning about the emotional well-being of students. I have also loved learning about how different students can be based on their developmental group. The deliverables that I have created are aimed mainly at students in their late adolescence.
I am not used to working with students who are in first grade, but the sea turtle one is. Because it is in first grade, I was thinking about how it could be different for a high schooler rather than an elementary schooler. One of the first things I was thinking about is how I can be a lot more serious with them because they can actually understand the dangers. Most of the lesson would be the same, I would just show different videos and ask them more thoughtful questions.
My next deliverable is more specific to me as a theatre teacher. There is a lot of character development needed to become a different person for a role. I want my students to think about people more analytically so that they can portray them easier. I would like my students to rationalize why a character does what they do based on their past and I would like my students to think about how they would portray that character.
Teaching college students, who are future teacher candidates, is very important. Doing a lesson on social-emotional learning is very important because everyone has emotions and they all need to be catered to. There are a lot of things that make up a person's emotional well-being and there is so much a teacher can do for them in all aspects of their emotions.
Health is a very important thing to a college student. I know that I have had my fair share of health issues in the past that can start off mental, and then affect my sleep, and my academics. There is a rippling effect that happens when one part of your health is off, and there are some ways you can fix it.
Overall, there are so many lessons that can be done for students of all ages. All lessons are very important to the development of the child and there are so many ways you can affect them. As a future teacher, there are so many ways you can connect with your student and make them feel safe and comforted at school. There are so many things that happen in someone's life, and learning at school might be the best way someone can cope. I love all the things I have learned, and I am so grateful to have been in this class.
