The biceps brachii muscle is the superficial muscle of the anterior (flexor) compartment of the arm. Its short head originates from the coracoid process of the scapula, while the long head originates form the supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula. The single distal tendon of the biceps brachii inserts into the radial tuberosity of the radius. Innervation is by the musculocutaneous nerve, and the action of the muscle is to flex the shoulder and elbow joint, and supinate the forearm.
