"We are proud to be a part of the Brown community. The University’s commitment to intellectual curiosity and its welcoming, collaborative spirit has provided our student with opportunities to explore new interests and grow in ways we never imagined. Brown's unique approach to education and the connections our child has formed, both in and out of the classroom, have made a lasting impression on us. We're grateful to support this exceptional institution and look forward to connecting with fellow parents who are equally passionate about the Brown experience."
"As proud parents of two Brown students, including one transfer, we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Brown community. Parents Leadership Council: Membership Opportunities
The Brown Parents Leadership Council is a group of approximately 70 Brown families who act as ambassadors for Brown and seek to inspire other parents to support the mission, engage with University leadership and their peers, and support the philanthropic goals of the University. They do this by connecting with our Brown parents, attending on campus, regional, and virtual events with exclusive opportunities to hear from leadership and faculty, making leadership-level gifts, and asking other families to do the same.
Council Goals
To engage with Brown families and University leadership as philanthropic leaders and supporters of Brown
To significantly increase the number of Brown parents making annual leadership gifts to The Brown/Parents Fund
To invite fellow parents to join Brown Family Fellows (overall giving of $15,000 to Brown each year) and support broad participation at all levels, raise awareness of giving and engagement opportunities, and provide excellent stewardship
To foster strong parent engagement within geographic communities, industries, and child interests
To provide direct support through personal philanthropy
Opportunities
Receive invitations and attend exclusive special events
Gain an insider’s perspective of the University through numerous opportunities to meet and interact with key Brown administrators and faculty
Suggest campus speakers, host regional events, and expand Brown’s career network (through internships, job shadowing, advising/mentoring, and other career-related opportunities)
Serve as outstanding national and international ambassadors for Brown
Assist with the stewardship of leadership donors to The Brown/Parents Fund
Member responsibilities
Demonstrate philanthropic support with a minimum annual gift of $25,000 to Brown. Because of the Council’s focus on raising unrestricted support for Brown, members are asked to designate a minimum of $10,000 of their gift to The Brown/Parents Fund
Participate in in-person or virtual meetings during the year
Connect with 8-10 select Brown families annually to invite their support of The Brown/Parents Fund. This typically takes place around our 2 giving days (fall & spring)

Volunteer Code of Conduct
DIVISION OF ADVANCEMENT
VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Brown University, we are incredibly grateful for your volunteer service. The purpose of the following code of conduct is to ensure that the Brown volunteer experience is meaningful, productive, and safe for all participants. We require each volunteer to read and comply with this Volunteer Code of Conduct in order to be eligible to participate in Brown Alumni Association and Advancement volunteer opportunities. The Volunteer Code of Conduct only needs to be acknowledged once and is then considered valid for the duration of a Brown volunteer’s service, regardless of role or duration (unless there is a change in the Code).
As ambassadors for the University, Brown Alumni Association and Advancement volunteers collaborate with members of the Brown community and serve the University in myriad ways, including championing Brown’s mission, encouraging and fostering inclusive peer and community engagement, and building long-term relationships with other alumni, parents, students, and friends. Brown University relies on our committed volunteers to provide a model of leadership to peer alumni, parents, and friends, and to work in partnership with staff to achieve the University’s goals. To that end, all Brown Alumni Association and Advancement volunteers are expected to:
Demonstrate a commitment to the guidelines and responsibilities of the volunteer roles undertaken.
Maintain the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct in all work with other volunteers and all members of the Brown community and the public.
For applicable volunteer roles, safeguard confidential information and maintain privacy guidelines as outlined within the Advancement Data Confidentiality Agreement.
Promptly report to your University contact if data has been compromised or if you have witnessed any violation of volunteer guidelines and responsibilities.
If financial responsibilities are part of the volunteer role, follow all requirements for appropriate control, financial reporting, and reconciliation, ensuring alignment with financial policies of the Brown Alumni Association/Division of Advancement and Brown University.
Maintain an open and responsive line of communication and provide support and feedback to staff as appropriate.
When engaging in discussions around issues of concern to the alumni, parent, and campus community, exercise reasonable care to convey when such remarks, social media posts, etc. are made in a personal vs. official capacity.
Practice acts of inclusion to foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and belonging, and to contribute to a caring and respectful community that embraces diversity and inclusion.
Treat peer volunteers and staff members with respect and consideration.
Brown University reserves the right to disengage with any volunteer who does not adhere to these guidelines or whose actions are inappropriate in relation to the mission and goals of Brown University or the Brown Alumni Association.
