Staff Liaisons may highlight sections of the School Email Templates they provide to identify areas they wish for you to customize. You can also use highlighting when drafting your own email templates to help you identify where you may need to edit in the future. Follow the instructions below to help you combat any formatting issues.
Navigate to the My Template page.
Either Create a New Template or click on the name of one of your existing templates to edit.
Inside the body content, locate or draft the text you would like to highlight and use your cursor to select it.
While the text is selected, click on the A icon on the email toolbar. A small color selector should appear.
On the color selector, click Highlight. Once the highlight option is selected the highlight tab should turn a light grey. If you wish to change the color of the text, then remain on the Text tab. Click on the color you want.
Click anywhere to exit the color selector.
Once the text is highlighted, it will appear in the body text and on the email preview on the right hand side. (pictured below).
Repeat these steps to keep highlighting & finish making edits. Click Save Template at the bottom of the page to save.
When ready to send an email to your assignment(s) using a School Email Template, navigate to the Email page.
↳ If you are removing highlights from your own templates, follow these steps on your template inside the My Templates section.
Click on the name of the template.
Inside the body content, locate the highlighted text. You can use either of the following methods:
Read what the highlighted text is requesting you adjust. (i.e. [Insert Personal Greeting Here.]) Then put your cursor behind the highlighted text and backspace the entire line to remove all the highlighted text.
⭐TIP: If backspacing does not remove the highlighting, try also deleting the first word after the highlighted text - then just re-type that word. (i.e. delete [Insert Personal Greeting Here.] I’m)
Select the highlighted text with your cursor. Then click on the A icon on the email toolbar. A small color selector should appear.
On the color selector, click Highlight. Once the highlight option is selected the highlight tab should turn a light grey. Click None at the bottom of the color selector.
Click anywhere to exit the color selector.
While the text is still highlighted, click backspace or delete. (or click out of the highlighted text to check if the highlight has disappeared, once confirmed, delete the text).
Once deleted, type in your personal text. (i.e. Hope you’re doing well!)
Repeat these steps for each area of highlighted text and resume preparing the email to send. Ensure you check the Email Preview before sending.
⭐TIP: If you are using the template for one-off outreach we recommend copying the template info & body text from your Email section, navigating to My Templates, clicking Create New Template and pasting the template there. Then make any of the suggested edits, ensure the email tokens still work and click Create New Template template at the bottom to save. Making the edits on the Email page will not save it for next time.
