A Letter to Amy and The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza take place in a neighborhood, or the area around their homes.

Here are some images of neighborhoods. What do you notice? Using empty boxes and containers, or building toys, you can make a neighborhood with buildings, stores, streets, and sidewalks. Look through the pictures for ideas!

Making Stationary

Post a Photo on SeeSaw

When Peter made an invitation for his birthday party, he used plain paper. Sometimes people write an invitation on a special paper called stationery. This week you can design your own stationery using brown paper bags cut into squares or rectangles and recycled envelopes from old mail. Once you glue the envelope onto the brown paper, be sure to leave it blank for writing. You can decorate around it. Click on the pictures on above for ideas

Science & Sensory

Washing Dishes

Washing Dishes

In The Little Red Hen Makes A Pizza, Hen’s friends offered to wash the dishes after they ate the pizza she made. You can offer to wash non-breakable dishes at home in a sink, bucket, or the bathtub. You can use liquid soap and a sponge or dishcloth to create a lather and scrub the dishes. See if you can rinse and dry them when you are done! Look at these pictures for ideas!

Peter's Invitation

Writing a Letter or Invitation

Post a Photo on SeeSaw

In A Letter to Amy, Peter sent an invitation to Amy to ask her to come to his party. This week you can write a letter or an invitation to a friend or a family member. You can use the stationery you make in the Art Center or use a plain piece of paper. Look at the pictures for ideas!

Who is your letter or invitation for?

How is what you are creating similar to or different from Peter’s invitation in A Letter to Amy?

Drama & Storytelling

Celebration Images

Celebration

In A Letter to Amy, Peter’s friends celebrated his birthday with a party. A celebration is a special or important time friends share.

This week in Dramatization, you can pretend to have a celebration. Decide what kind of a celebration you want to have, who will be the host, or the person having the celebration, and who will be the guest(s), or the people invited to the celebration.

Mindfulness

Deep Belly Breathing

Deep Belly Breaths

Place your right hand on your belly and your left hand on your chest. Take a deep breath in for four counts then exhale through your nose for four counts, with your lips closed. Feel the rise and fall of your chest and belly. If you're on your back, you could place an object, like a stuffed animal, on your stomach to help you feel (and see) the rise and fall of your belly.. Do this deep belly breathing for a few minutes.
