For an extra project, you can create clouds using materials from around your home like in these pictures.
Drama
Pretending to Animals
Directions: This week in Drama and Storytelling you can continue pretending to be animals. You may want to do some research in our animal books to learn more about the animal you are playing. What does it eat? How does it move? Where does it live? You could create a habitat using a blanket or beautiful stuff like in the pictures below!
Things to think and talk about
What kind of a habitat do you live in?
Do you live alone or with other animals who are like you and/or different from you?
How is the animal you are playing similar/different from the animals in the books we’ve been reading?
OPTIONAL: POST A PHOTO TO SEESAW

Building
Settings Inspired by ...
Families: please read the directions to your child and look at the pictures on the slides
In A Hat for Minerva Louise, the setting- where the story happens- is a farm. The setting for Gilberto And The Wind is also a farm. The setting in The Snowy Day is a city neighborhood.” In Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain the setting is a plain--a grassy area with only a few trees. How is the setting of Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain similar to or different from the setting of The Snowy Day?
This week in the Building Center, you can use Beautiful Stuff or building materials to create settings from A Hat for Minerva Louise, Gilberto And The Wind, The Snowy Day, or Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain.
When you are finished, take a picture of your work and put it on SeeSaw.
Then answer these questions
Which story inspired your setting?
Why did you choose these materials to create your setting?
How is your setting similar to or different from the illustrations of the setting in the book?
