patience: the power of waiting well
"All great achievements require time." - Maya Angelou
Announcements for this Week:
Our Spring Sing is now at Benjamin Franklin High School on April 20. Gates open at 5:00! Students should plan to wear red, white, or blue. Dress code still applies.
May 1 is a half day! Please plan accordingly.
As we get into this ending part of the year, it's really easy for the students to get a bit antsy and forgetful of routines and expectations. Reminders at home to stay on task and make wise choices will definitely help them finish the year strong!

Summer Ideas
If you're looking for ways to continue to support your child in their learning over the summer, there are quite a few free and easy things you can do! Think about getting a library card and spend a day each week at the library. Lots have special events as well that promote reading! Giving your child access to many books helps to keep their skills sharp! Continue to practice flashcards and facts during the summer as well! Even something like 5 minutes a day keeps those multiplication facts fresh in their minds. You can also consider having your child keep a journal or diary! This is a great way to work on penmanship, grammar, and writing skills! Have them practice writing various types of sentences in their entries as a challenge! Grocery shopping, chores, and sports or lessons can also be great places to work on problem solving skills.
Virtue Focus: Patience
This week we'll be discussing the virtue of patience at home. We'll talk about using patience to help us work with siblings, neighbors, and other family members. We'll also discuss ways that patience can help us stay focused when we have to wait for fun things. You can help support this at home by asking your child to demonstrate patience in a variety of ways!
