What is Annotation?
In reading, we often mark up our passages. We've done this a little bit, but this semester we're really going to be diving more deeply into this skill. Being able to highlight correctly and identify certain details while reading aids in comprehension and higher thinking skills. You can have your child do this with books you don't mind them writing in or make copies of stories and have them practice marking interesting parts, underlining details that support the main idea, and starring figurative language.
Virtue Focus: Courage
This week we'll be discussing courage specifically at school- how we can persevere even when it's scary or hard, how we can stand up for someone, or how we can do the right thing even if no one is watching. Chat with your child about ways they've shown courage at school and brainstorm new ways they can do this too!
