I would like to start by thanking you for all of your efforts at home during the winter weather. The school community did so well. Parents, thank you for your steadfast efforts. They do not go unnoticed and we are thankful for your partnership. And, thank you for your engagement in parent-teacher conferences last week. We love talking with all of you about your child's academic success.

The annual ACT ASPIRE Assessment is coming soon. The testing dates for students who are learning on the virtual platform are April 5th and 6th. The tests for those learning virtually will be at the school building. Please review the district graphic below for details. The testing dates for students learning in the blended model will be April 13th, 14th, 20th, and 21st. We will send more information as the testing dates grow closer.

All ESL students have completed their ELPA21 assessment for the 2020-2021 school year. They all worked extremely hard and I'm so very proud of them. The results will be returned in April or May.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 13 for the return of I Matter, a community-wide program for teen girls and their female mentors and caregivers. Experts from ROX and The Center for Family Safety and Healing are excited to provide attendees with an engaging 2-hour program focused on educating teens about healthy relationships, confidence and the collective power of girls!

Mrs. Wright's class held a science fair on Friday, February 26th. Students completed their group projects on the body systems and enjoyed presenting them to staff and students who came by to visit their class. They did a fantastic job!

We're at the tail end of our weaving projects. Students have been learning a variety of weaving techniques, and will apply what they've learned to the finishing part of their weavings. Because of the long break recently, blended students will have more time to get their weavings finished. You may see a few coming home with them to work on.

After the weaving project, it's my hope to dive into a clay project. Virtual students will be asked to pick up and return clay, and that date will be announced once we really get going (after Spring Break).

Quite a few students have gone above and beyond on their weavings--making more than one and trying out making pouches and purses! If your student needs additional help, I am happy to schedule a virtual meeting with him/her.

Check out some photos of our 5th grade water unit! We have explored how water is distributed on earth. Through our lab, students discovered that there is such a small amount of fresh water on earth and most of it is FROZEN is icecaps and glaciers!
