The first semester of the 2019-2020 school year is in the books!
Creekside Middle School opened in 2017-2018 with roughly 440 students. Two years later, we are the largest middle school in the district. 631 and growing. I am thankful our school is structured in teams - Warriors, Titans, Divergent, Grit, Legends, and Strive. These communities become like small families and make something big feel smaller.

Our school has much to be thankful for this year. Our school was recognized as an A rated school by the Arkansas Department of Education. Our second year in a row! And, our school received over $25,000 in Arkansas Recognition Reward Money for high achievement on our state assessment, ACT ASPIRE.

Mrs. Ansel and I want to thank all of our students and teachers for their hard work this semester. They displayed all of the elements of SPICE - Service. Passion. Innovation. Collaboration. & Empowerment. We value each one of them.

5th Grade students have been learning about food webs by using string to represent energy transfer. Each student had cards with organisms (producers, consumers, decomposers) that they represented.

The art students in Ms. Calohan's class have been extra busy this past nine weeks! Fifth graders finished up their Exquisite Corpse projects (collaborative drawing and story) and moved into color-mixing and painting. Students learned about Kandinsky's Concentric Circles, and tried their own painting-in-the-round as a color study. This work will become a weaving-in-the-round next semester. Fifth grade also experimented with acrylic and tempera paint, and simultaneously began a color-wheel painting, that will finish with a zentangle abstract design when we return from break.

Students are still working on their "dragon plates" and just completed a terra-cotta clay pot. Students learned the coiling method, after learning that was the strategy used to create all 8,000 warriors two-thousand years ago. When we return in January, sixth graders will glaze their pots, finish dragons, and move onto a few drawing projects.

The Bentonville School District unveiled a new online payment platform on Monday called My Payments Plus. The Registration is very simple and we encourage all of you to register online at mypaymentsplus.com and link your children to your account.

You should have received your child’s student ID in the email sent out on Monday which you will need to complete the registration process. If you did not receive an email please check your SPAM folder.

You will be notified by email when items are available for payment. Examples of items you will be able to pay online include field trip dues, t-shirt orders, and club fees. You can pay with your debit card, credit card or directly from your checking account. The cost of processing is already included (and is the same whether you pay online or in person), so you will not pay an additional fee to take advantage of the online system.
