Team Titans Colonial Day Fair
Students from Team Titans prepared their own learning stations and taught their peers on various themes about colonial times in America. The event was The Colonial Day Fair. Fifth-grade students from Creekside and fourth-graders from Osage Creek Elementary enjoyed a morning of food, fun, and learning, experiencing how colonists lived in early America the 1700s.

On Saturday, February 1, ten students from Creekside Middle School attended the MathCounts Chapter Competition in Fayetteville. Students spent the morning competing individually while four of the students competed in a team competition as well.

The competition is for students in grades six through eight. There were over 140 students competing and three of our Creekside students qualified for the state competition in Little Rock! Way to go, Creekside Cardinals!

Ms. Yarbrough's 5th grade science students made dirty water last week and then created ways to try and clean it. Students are learning about where our water comes from and where our dirty water goes.

For the month of February, "Mr. D's." students have joined in with Ms. Calohan's kids, while allowing the new art teacher, Miss Horner, to get settled and prepared to teach. Students joined in on Ms. Calohan's Google Classrooms, and oftentimes teamed up to work on the same projects. Sixth graders have been working on contour line drawings, and a variety of drawing techniques. They learned about Vincent VanGogh's famous boot paintings, as well as Andy Warhol's shoes. Next up, kids will be working on gestural drawings and still-life pieces. All students are making strides to create a final "Original Works" picture for our upcoming fundraiser--mid April.

Recently, they cut snowflakes as a preview for making a much larger (paper) Rose Window. This activity has been really fun, and the children have made some beautiful art! We've decided to stave off on the gargoyle clay project until after our break. Kids are really excited about using clay!

Hello CMS families!
My name is Shelby Horner and I am the new art teacher in room 119! I am so excited to join the Creekside staff. Working with your kids over the last few weeks has been so great. I grew up in Bentonville, and after teaching art in central Arkansas and then Iowa, I'm so happy to be back in this community. I love teaching about contemporary art, teaching students ways that we can listen to other voices and perspectives through art, and empowering them to use their own voices. I look forward to finishing out the year with your kids, diving into the world of art with them and facilitating new art-making experiences!

In this summer camp experience, campers will learn about robotics through design, building, and programming a variety of robots. We will use LEGO robots, plus build custom robots using 3D printed parts and an Arduino micro-computer. We will also build a pneumatic-controlled robot arm.
