Good News
Jeff Sauls, Principal at Washington High School, was presented with a framed picture of WHS in 1953 and a $700 check from Ms. Sue Jefferson & the WHS Class of 1971. The donation will be split. $500 will go to the Student Government Association and $150 goes to ReLeaf for a tree to be planted by the Class of 1971. The money was left over from their recent class reunion.
Washington High School students Jaques Williams and Thyler Smith received $1,000 scholarships each from the P. S. Jones High School Alumni Association presented by Board member Eltha Booth & Dr. Matthew Cheeseman. Thyler Smith also received a $500 scholarship from The Ed Booth Family.

The minutes of the June 7th & 21st meetings were approved as presented.
New Business
Chocowinity Middle School painting project. The lowest bid was from Torres Painting for $72,500. The same color as is now will be used & the whole school will be painted. Approved as presented.
Mr. Mitchell St. Clair was reappointed as Board of Trustee for Beaufort Community College. Effective July 1, full 4-year term. The Board approved as presented.
A request was made by Athletic Director, Joe Tkach to add Wrestling and Golf Athletic teams to Chocowinity Middle School for the 2022- 2023 school year. Approved as presented.
Chocowinity Middle School Playground Equipment request to purchase from Peg Recreation, Inc. cost $98,419 for the 5th-grade playground. 5 mo. timeframe. Approved as presented.

2022-2023 Budget Update- Beaufort County Schools received $500,000 up from last year. BCS will be given 1.1 million, asked for $5 million

Testing and Accountability Specialist Vickie Bennett presented the 2022-2023 Alternative Schools Modified Accountability System Options for the Ed Tech Center to the board for approval. The recommendation was to elect Option B and use 3 years of data. The Board approved as presented.
Budget Amendment and Resolution was approved by the Board as presented
Bath Athletic Complex Sign- A request was presented for Woodwriters to create a sign. The design presented to the Board proposed was a $6,500 hand-carved wood sign, a pirate face in the center, 'Home of the Pirates', dates of service, in honor of Jack Wallace. Approved as presented.
CTE Local Application was presented by Director Vicki Hamill. Presented every year, approved as presented.
Superintendent Report
Dr. Matthew Cheeseman was granted Authority to Act as Fiscal Agent in Applying for Federal Funds
Superintendent Dr. Matthew Cheeseman presented information to the Board concerning Senate Bill 654 requiring that each Board of Education vote monthly on mask mandates. By majority vote, the Board approved to continue making masks optional in the schools.
