The minutes of both February 1st and February 15th minutes were approved as presented
New Business
Mr. Williams addressed the Public Comment Section that people should be allowed to discuss any item as long as the board has jurisdiction. We should not limit conversation and comments. Changes will be made to BP 2310 which it says has to be on the agenda to speak about.
Covid Protocol: Updated Toolkit to reflect BCS is no longer contact tracing in the county/ state.
Reports and Updates
$121,000 Grant for WHS Soccer Complex update:
Mr. Bilbro will head the committee documenting everything done to the complex
The area is fenced already
Needs: Lights, bleachers, signs, etc.
Lights alone will cost upwards of $250,000. Talked about a potential match.
EC Contract Addendum
approval for extension of contract addendum for OT, not to exceed $185,000.
Math Curriculum Adoption
Started the process of adopting a curriculum in Math in January 2021
They had 9 vendors present their package, narrowed to top 4, then top 2. Teachers voted on #1: Envision was the winner!
Provides great digital resources, 100% of principals want this program
ESSER funding will be used, cost $212,000
Only 8 days of training over the next 5 years is required
Will be adopted in August 2022
Board approved the adoption as presented- unanimous vote
Maintenance Department update:
SW Snowden Security doors to be installed.
EC Walkway at Southside was supposed to be installed, The Board wants the project looked into and worked on.
District Signage:
13 digital signs were proposed for the Central services location and 12 school locations.
3 billboards are also proposed for 3 directions of Beaufort County in an effort to raise enrollment and build communication throughout BCS
Ms Riddle asked to proceed with plans to present the project at a later date. The Board agreed these were needed and to proceed.
Capturing Kids Hearts
A team consisting of Principals and Assistant Principals attended CKH in the fall and presented tonight to bring the program to BCS
It is a moral/ social/ emotional builder for all staff and students within the schools that are signed up to participate.
12 schools elected to participate
Would use Esser funding to pay the cost of CKH
The board tabled the discussion and wants to review the program further. Will revote on March 1.
E-Rate Funding Approval
Tech devices & Infrastructure, chrome books, laptops & hotspots- needing updates
$721,000 in supplemental funds for Teacher Compensation will be paid in June
HB 75 Part V: School Mental Health Support Personnel Report & update for Allied Universal was presented.
Superintendent Report
The removal of agenda item 2310 has been completed- non agenda item for public comment, meaning the public can speak what is on their mind and doesn't have to be an item on the agenda.
The list of Capital Outlay has been created. It is a list of things to look for in each school such as repairs. Price information and Board walk throughs to be scheduled.
Drainage at WHS track was mentioned as in need of repair as well as other outstanding repairs.

Information was presented to the Board concerning Senate Bill 654 requiring that each Board of Education vote monthly on mask mandates. By majority vote, the Board approved to continue making masks optional in the schools.
