Computing at Avondale
NATIONAL CURRICULUM
Select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information
Understand that much of what they produce on a computer has an intended audience and that it should be produced with this audience in mind.
When creating printed content, this may be reflected in the colours or fonts used eg. posters for a cake sale will be bold and eye catching, perhaps with an artistic font, whereas a letter of formal complaint will be more formal with less distraction.
Pupils should understand the audience can also be shown in computer coding eg games designed for younger players may use more friendly characters, such as teddies and may be easier to play.
WORKING TOWARDS - Pupils can recognise that their work has a target audience and can identify some preferences of that audience.
MET - Pupils can recognise that their work has a target audience and can explain how some of their choices were made with that audience in mind.
FURTHER PROGRESSION - Pupils show a good understanding of the needs of the target audience for their work. They can identify a range of ways in which they have adapted their work to meet the needs of the audience.
Understand how technology can help them analyse and process information.
Pupils may use a range of software to design and carry out a survey before recording their results in a spreadsheet or online form.
Pupils will be able to analyse collected data through a range of graphs in spreadsheets, or through automatic analysis tools in online suvey applications.
WORKING TOWARDS - Pupils can sort and use simple filters to analyse data.
MET - Pupils can present data in simple graphs which they then use to identify statements on the data.
FURTHER PROGRESSION - Pupils confidently analyse data through the use of sorting and multiple filters. They present data in a range of well formatted graphs which are used to identify statements and trends.
