Select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information

Select the most appropriate program(s) for a given task eg. spreadsheet, word document, image editor etc.
To do this, they should fully understand the core functions of a piece of software, including its strengths and limitations.
Pupils should know that a Word document is well suited for writing stories, whereas a Publisher document is better for making posters and cards.
Pupils will have some understanding of Spreadsheets and how well they are suited to working with numbers. The same task of producing a document can result in different outcomes, based upon the software that was chosen.
BELOW - When shown the options, children can identify the most appropriate piece of software for a task and can use it effectively.
MET - Pupils can use prior knowledge and experience to help them identify the most appropriate piece of software for a task and can use it effectively.
FURTHER PROGRESSION - Pupils can identify the most appropriate piece of software for a task, clearly justifying their choice with reference to each software's functionality.
