Every Monday morning you should do a quick meeting with parents and a brief walk through their house with them to establish guidelines for using their space for the day/week.
Some things to ask parents in your Monday Morning Walk Through:
Can you show me the outdoor space at your home would you prefer we use?
We will need to come inside to use the restroom. Which bathroom should we use?
Brief reminder that we ask that your camper’s lunch is packed and prepared ahead of time.
Any areas that are off limits? In the house? In the yard? Neighborhood?
Any house rules I should know?
Any pets that I should be aware of and anything I need to know about them while I am at your house?
Biking Questions for the Week:
If possible, we like to practice bike skills at home and go on neighborhood bike rides.
Is it okay if we bike in your yard/driveway?
Can you tell me about the available biking areas in your neighborhood? Do you feel comfortable with your child(ren) going on a neighborhood bike ride with me?
Are there trails/parks nearby that we could ride to today?
Other Misc. Questions:
We may ask to use other gear this week for curriculum like a tent. Do you have a family tent you feel comfortable with us using?
We also do a really fun gear repair activity, do you have some old clothes or packs with holes in them that we can practice sewing on?
We will check in daily to determine what activities we are planning for the following day and I will let you know if we need anything additional like a tent or old clothes.
