Guidelines to the thesis/dissertation and undertaking the capstone project provide for the general rules that should apply to all academic programs. Nonetheless, these guidelines also recognize the nuances of the departments’ and programs' needs and concerns. The guidelines, thus, are structured to allow programs and departments to exercise latitude in specifying procedures if and when they deem it necessary to ensure quality assurance.
