8th Grade American History and Government
In 8th grade Social Studies students learn about the foundations of American government, reflect on the promise of the Declaration of Independence, and understand functions of our constitutional republic. They learn about the proper balance between individual rights and the common good. Then they consider how marginalized groups, including American Indians, immigrants, women, and black Americans, worked within and without our constitution to demand equal political rights and opportunities.
