The English Language Arts program offered at Parkview is based on the Units of Study by Lucy Calkins and uses a workshop approach with the foundation set by the Wisconsin Standards for ELA. Through 6th grade ELA class, students will be doing various units of study including reading nonfiction texts, novels, literary texts, and participating in book clubs centered around student choice and social issues. Students will be involved in different modes of presenting and writing to describe personal stories, analyzing characters and theme, and sharing what they research and learn.
