6th Grade Math

On a daily basis, students in CPM’s Core Connections, problem-solve, question, investigate, gather evidence, and communicate arguments to justify their thinking. Students learn to share their information, expertise, and ideas in class and in small groups. The course helps students to develop multiple strategies to solve problems and to recognize the connections between concepts. The sixth grade concepts include perimeter, area, patterns, data displays, factors, factor pairs, generic rectangle multiplication, ratios, adding integers, relationships between fractions/decimals/percentages, coordinate graphing, absolute value, algebraic expressions, rates, volume, and all operations with fractions and decimals.
