This course will provide a broad introduction to the travel and tourism industry. It will include research into popular tourist destinations and look at the future of tourism. It will investigate a variety of job roles and help develop customer care skills required for travel and tourism careers.

Units covered in this course include:

Marketing and promotional methods in the travel industry.

Investigation destination by researching destination both home and abroad.

Tourism Trends: Food tourism and the possible future of space tourism.

Customer service: Problem solving through planning and customer care.

Business: Resort Management

Careers: Job roles research and employability skills.

Impacts of tourism: The positive and negative impacts on popular destinations.

This course focuses on the skills needed for embarking in a career in any aspect of Travel and Tourism, this includes hospitality. This covers huge range of jobs for example: waitress, hotel manager, air hostess, transport logistics, marketing within the tourism industry, advertising.


Learning, Teaching & Assessment

This course will mainly be a classroom learning experience. A wide range of learning and teaching strategies are used with classes, such as developing critical thinking skills, research, paired and /or group work. Work in class is supported through the use of notes, ICT and other digital media. There will be some opportunities to use the school and local community to support our learning experience through outdoor learning.

Knowledge and skills will be assessed in each unit and will be ongoing throughout the year. This will include project work, classroom activities and assessed work.
