Units Studied
In S3 history you will have three units
· The Scottish wars of Independence (1286- 1305). In this unit you will learn all about what it was like to live in medieval Scotland. You will also learn about the battles between the English and Scottish for control of the land. You will study key figures in our history such as Andrew Murray, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce!
· World War Two (1939-1945) - In this unit you will learn about the largest conflict in modern history. We will look at key battles such as Dunkirk and D- day. We will also discover how the war affected those who did not fight by exploring topics such as rationing and women’s war work.
· Personal research project- This is an opportunity for you to study a historical topic that interests you. With the guidance of your teacher, you will come up with your own research question. You will have opportunities in class to study this topic and look at a variety of sources to help you write your report.

In S3 history, you will have the opportunity to develop skills that will help you in school, life, and work. For example:

Learning, Teaching and Assessment
We use a variety of different methods to help you learn the best you can. You will do a variety of activities including presentations, group conversations, individual writing tasks and assessments that will prepare you for future exams/ assessments.
