In Art and Design, you will develop your skills that prepare you for your S4 qualifications. You will cover a range of fun and creative units through expressive, design and critical works that will aid you to make the best choices for your chosen pathway.

Expressive

Expressive art units cover a range of topics that develop observational drawing and encourages you develop your skills using a range of different materials and techniques by building your confidence and understanding of art.

Design

Design units cover a range of topics that build confidence and decision making skills, work through a design process from idea to final product and develop your understanding of design techniques and technologies.

Critical

Critical art and design units cover terminology that help you analyse artists and designers work. This allows you to reflect on your work and the work of artists and designers through critical thinking and exploration.

Entry Requirements

The art and design S3 course is aimed at S2 pupils who have achieved or are working at a level 2+ or above. To be successful in this course pupils should have an understanding of health and safety, patience and perseverance to succeed and a willingness to try new things.
