The S3 RMP course covers 3 topic areas that prepare pupils with skills needed for sitting the National 4/5 course.
Judaism. In this unit pupils will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Jewish beliefs and practices. Analyse Jewish beliefs and practices. Finally evaluate the relevance, significance and impact of Jewish beliefs and practices.
Morality and Conflict . In this unit pupils will describe, explain and analyse aspects of the issue. Describe, explain and analyse religious and non-religious responses to conflict. Present reasoned views about the religious and non-religious responses to the issue. Evaluate the issue and religious and non-religious responses to it.
Miracles. In this unit students will present factual knowledge and understanding of miracles. Present factual knowledge and understanding of contrasting responses to Miracles. Analyse a religious and philosophical question and responses to it. Evaluate responses to miracles. Present a reasoned viewpoint on miracles.
The RMPS course develops skills in being able to express and support reasoned views on key religious and non-religious views. Throughout the year students will develop an increases awareness and understanding of their own beliefs and how their beliefs can impact their life. The course also focuses on developing critical thinking skills throughout along with literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
Pupils will be regularly assessed on course knowledge as well as core skills. Each topic will have a formal assessment at the end of each unit. These assessments will form the basis of recommendations going into S4.
Progression from S3 RMPS will lead to either National 4/5 RMPS or for some pupils it will be more appropriate to progress into our N5 Skills for Work course in Travel & Tourism or into N3/4 Scottish Studies.
