I am so excited to have all of you in this course. Like we talked about at orientation, I will be working with you from orientation to graduation. I am so excited to get to work with you and support during your college career and get to know you better during this course.
Some important expectations you should remember for this semester to make sure you stay on track to get priority registration:
1. Attend Early Advising and Registration Advising with me!
2. Attend Mentor Meetings weekly (mentoring syllabus found here)
3. Attend our First Year Retreat on August 23rd
I also would encourage you to work towards earning the ACCESS Leadership Certificate! You can find the checklist for that by clicking here.
You're always welcome to stop by my office at 221 D.D. Dougherty. I am generally available Monday- Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. I am in a lot of meetings, so scheduling an appointment will guarantee us a time to meet at a mutually convenient time. I can meet both in person and via zoom.
If you would like to schedule an appointment, you can contact me. I typically respond within 24-48 hours during the week. I do not typically respond to emails, phone calls, or texts after 5pm or on the weekend. If it has been over 48 hours (outside of the weekend), please poke me again! Sometimes my inbox gets full during the semester and I will appreciate the gentle reminder.

This semester we will be using two main resources:
The first resource we will be using is our textbook-On Course: Strategies for Creating Success in College and in Life, Study Skills Plus, 9th Ed., Skip Downing.
It is an electronic book that will automatically populate in AsULearn as part of the rental textbook program. This book covers eight strategies and principles that help students be successful both in college and in life after college. Check out this video of this ACCESS alumni speaking at the On Course conference.
The second resource is the ACCESS Guide. The ACCESS guide is a Google Site website that covers everything you need to know about your ACCESS Scholarship and answers most common questions we get from students.
